Obama offers optimism, but questions remain for cities

Posted by Josh Wheeling | 02.25.2009 / 12:18 AM PST

In cities like Philadelphia and across the nation, President Barack Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night was a welcome dose of optimism at a grim time.
There was talk of making healthcare more accessible, investing in renewable energy and providing tax cuts to the majority of Americans. Still, the speech did little […]

Long time no speak!

Posted by Janet Ryder | 10.08.2008 / 9:53 PM PDT

After much prodding and cajoling of myself, I decided to make an entry.  My absence has been mainly due to being busy working on the non partisan voter protection side but also because I have been unhappy about what I have been viewing on tv as it relates to politics and its coverage.
I am employed […]

Posted by Janet Ryder | 09.12.2008 / 7:45 PM PDT

Make sure every vote is counted!

Posted by Janet Ryder | 09.07.2008 / 3:20 PM PDT

Everyone has to do their part to make sure every eligible voter is registered AND that they vote on Election Day.  Been hearing stories contrary to that sentiment of activities that happened during the primary elections…..We will not let that happen on November 4th.

Well the conventions are over. The work has to be done

Posted by Janet Ryder | 09.07.2008 / 3:18 PM PDT

I attended the democratic convention in Denver and it was indeed a memorable occasion.  The democratic party delegates truly reflected the society in which I live in much better than the republican convention did.  I had the opportunity to meet other trade unionists from across the nation and we were all excited about the upcoming election […]

I’m getting pumped!

Posted by Janet Ryder | 08.20.2008 / 8:31 PM PDT

It’s been a while since the primary elections in PA but the enthusiasm for Obama has not declined.  Ride through neighborhoods in West Philly, Germantown and the Mainline and folks have Obama signs on their lawns and in their windows.  I don’t see many button wearers but at any gathering I’ve attending since April,   politics is a hot […]

Obama Goes All Out for Victory In PA

Posted by Kevin Boyle | 04.21.2008 / 3:02 PM PDT

Tomorrow is the big day in Pennsylvania. The Keystone State’s result will insure either Hillary’s presidential ambitions gain new momentum to fight on through Puerto Rico or Obama clinches the nomination. Many commentators in Pennsylvania and nationally are asserting that a close Hillary victory of less than six percent will actually be an Obama victory. […]

Casey’s Endorsement Provides Obama An Inroad Into Clinton’s PA Base

Posted by Kevin Boyle | 04.08.2008 / 6:05 PM PDT

The recent endorsement of Senator Barack Obama by Pennsylvania’s junior US Senator Bob Casey has been strongly featured in both Philadelphia and national media outlets. This endorsement is seen to be a key endorsement due to the Casey family’s longtime popularity among the Keystone State’s numerously abundant culturally conservative Democratic voters. Since campaigning began in […]

Philly Will Not Be Exclusively Pro Obama

Posted by Kevin Boyle | 03.19.2008 / 3:29 PM PDT

All eyes on Pennsylvania! All eyes on Philadelphia! Philadelphia is by far the Keystone State’s largest city and with Pennsylvania being called by some “Iowa on steroids”, the City of Brotherly Love will play a pivotal role in deciding the victor in the April 22 Democratic Primary. If Senator Hillary Clinton is to overcome Senator […]
