For Obama and McCain, it’s all about the battlegrounds

With the conventions over, the polls have started coming in, and they’re showing a sizable bump for Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
A USA Today/Gallup poll taken over the weekend shows the McCain/Palin team leading their Democratic challengers – Sens. Barack Obama and Joseph Biden – among likely voters by 10 percentage points. A CNN poll conducted during the same period has it all tied up at 48 percent for each ticket among registered voters.
The USA Today poll appears to be something of an outlier, but even without it, the Republicans appear to have made gains following the Twin Cities convention. A look at the poll averages on Pollster.com shows a narrowing gap between the candidates.
We have not polled people in our 11 Patchwork Nation communities, but a quick check-in with them does show some positive momentum for Senator McCain. The selection of Governor Palin, as well as the convention itself, seems to have locked in support for McCain not just in our more conservative communities, but also among borderline conservatives all over.
In many of our communities, traditionally Republican voters who were wavering have come home. It also seems that wavering Democrats have been pushed more firmly into their camp, according to our community correspondents.
One interesting finding in the USA Today poll was the polarizing effect of Palin. According to the survey, 29 percent said her presence on the ticket makes them more likely to vote for McCain, while 21 percent said she made a McCain vote less likely.
That kind of reaction mirrors what we are hearing from our communities.
The potential net effect: For the remaining 57 days of the campaign, we could be down to the true independent and undecided voters. In terms of Patchwork Nation’s electoral breakdown by community, that may mean that the election really will be about the three county types that were pretty close in 2004 – the wealthy suburban “Monied ’Burbs,” the growing and diversifying “Boom Towns,” and the smaller-town “Service Worker Centers.”
We will look more closely at those key “battleground” communities in the next few days – many of which are in swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, New Mexico, and Virginia.
The USA Today poll also showed that McCain gained ground on Senator Obama on the economy at the GOP convention. If that trend holds, it could be crucial – particularly in the “Boom Towns” and “Service Worker Centers,” some of which are seeing challenging economic times.

Some of us are concerned that the Palin interview will be on Schmit’s turf where he can control the environment! Charlie Gibson’s questions might get lost in the 2 day beautiful environment? A serious interview is at George Stephanopoulos’s Table where all the other candidates have done interviews for Years.

Relive 2000 elections!
A nightmare, maybe Supreme Court again will come to the rescue of McCain camp.
Boy, how worse should it be for people to realize that there should be change in party at DC?
September 9th, 2008 at 7:24 am PDT
It’s baffling to hear that McCain has gained ground on the economic front when the policies of his twin, George W. Bush, have almost ruined the U.S. economy. If McCain/Palin get elected, expect a depression that will make 1929 seem like a Boy Scout picnic.

The polarization exists because the news media and the extreme fringe on both sides force the dialogue as is evident in responses to blogs. Unfortunately most people don’t see this as a struggle between niervana and catastrophe. For most of us it’s really not much of a choice. Once in DC both will do as they have always done, play the game. I voted for Obama in the NH primary. I have since decided that he is just another politician. The Harvard Law degree is written all over him but I have not found the substance that I was looking for. Right now the only real outsider is Sarah Palin. That has me leaning in McCains direction at this moment. Like most American independent voters, I will change my mind many times before the election.

It’s clear to me that both Senetor McCain and Governer Palin are more than willing to reach across party lines in order to bring solutions to our country’s problems. Unfortunelty, it seems most of Washington is still in the mindset of the Clintons that if the idea doesn’t come from “our party” that it’s not worth listening to. Wake up Washington, the people want solutions, not finger pointing!

Obama is in trouble, period.
Yes, it is too early. And that is the reason why the Republicans along with Republican leaning PACs have held off on the negative ads reminding voters of Obama’s involvement with Wright, Ayers, etc. Thus far, the ads against Obama have been pretty mild. Wait until October, especially late October. That is when, I think, all **** will break loose.
Obama, on the other hand, is having a hard time figuring out how to fight back. The Democratic presidential candidate is left talking about the Republican VICE presidential candidate’s qualifications which is akin to his. Should he not be talking about his counterpart, not his counterpart’s underling? And where is Biden in all of this? MIA.
If this early part of the game Obama’s best showing is 8 points ahead of McCain and now 5 points behind, he is toast. It will be another 8 years or so of Republican White House. This may be the death of the Democratic Party as far as presidents go.

We know so little about Palin and how she would make decisions, what she knows about foreign policy, etc. What we do know is that she does not believe that global climate change is man-made, that she believes intelligent design should be taught in schools and that woman should not enjoy the right to choose.
The fact that she sees fit to disagree with over 90% of our scientists with regard to global climate change takes her off my list. How can we elect leaders who will not listen to scientific experts on important issues? I believe that the reason she is so popular is that she seems to have a nice personality, a nice smile and a nice speaking voice. I don’t consider these to be important attributes of successful judgment and leadership.

There are two very clear choices this year. We can have an urbancentric, socialist along with an old timey “gimme gumment” wonk.
Or, we can have a ticket with two, count em two, westerners. One a rural westerner. Well, inasmuch as Mr. Obama has repeatedly told us what he thinks of small town folks and we bitter, clinging, rural bumpkins. I would have to guess that the rural west will go for McMain Palin. Just a guess. Besides if as she says Sarah is a hater of corruption, we in New Mexico have much need of her help. The administration of Bill Richardson is rotten from the top down. A New Jersey Mob Boss would blush! We would very much like for Washington to keep it’s money in Washington, along with all of its regulations. There is a simmering anger in the west folks. Obama is not only clueless he dosnt’ give a rip about the west. (like most who will read this). Mr. Obama will not play well here. Sarah however is already excepted as a sister.

Well at least they can’t give China preferred trade status like George W. Bush did.. Wait, Clinton did that didn’t he. Hmm, where are our jobs going? Now just what did George W. Bush do exactly that ruined the economy?

People looking for a “savior” in the white hose are fools. People that believe everything that the media tells them are fools. I hope that the sheeple mentality in this country is lessened with more people actually looking into and researching the candidates policies and records and placing their votes on those isuues rather than on what the media does or, more importantly, doesn’t tell them.
September 9th, 2008 at 8:40 am PDT
As usual, the post from those on the left indicate they truly do not understand the differing functions of the 3 branches of government. It serves nothing more than to make each of you look ignorant about how those elected to run the country effects change (no I didn’t steal your simplistic nominees monosyllabic rhetoric) from their individual/collective perspectives. If you geniuses haven’t realized it, people are sick and tired of your partisan **** just to get back in the white house. The 2 single largest expenses in the Bush administrations budget his first term where 1) the single largest increase in spending on education and 2) the single largest increase on entitlement programs for the elderly. Not only do you morons blame him for the increases (they are put into effect by his signature but crafted by congress) but you fail o recognize or at least acknowledge that those programs were Kennedy programs passed by a republican controlled congress in a effort to appease the left. Your response has been to continue your divisive whining and do everything in your power to lose the war, crumble the economy and further divide the people of this country. Your own self serving attitudes are what people are sick of and you will pay the price yet once again with a republican president. Swallow that.

OOPS, white house not hose!
September 9th, 2008 at 8:46 am PDT
I think the race will come down to the wire, but the democrats should come out on top with all the young votes and new voter registration efforts. I don’t think people realize how many new voters have been generated by the democrats. The Palin fad will fade away before November. McCain can’t expect to ride her coat tail all the way Whitehouse.
September 9th, 2008 at 8:47 am PDT
What is wrong with you people?? It is extremely maddening as a Canadian to sit here and watch this going on. So, Sarah Palin’s pick by McCain has given a bump in the polls for white women voters for the GOP camp?? Think about this for a minute. Did you ever think that the pick of Palin was meant to do just that? From my seat on the couch over here, this reeks of misogynist tactics. It basically says that women are so ignorant, that they will vote for the candidate for President merely because his running mate is a woman. I guess if Hillary was Obama’s pick, all these women would be on the Dems side.
Also, let’s look at what type of person this Palin is… Mother of five from Alaska. OK, so now she is on the campaign trail in the lower 48. I don’t know of any mother who would leave her family thousands of miles away for so long. Sure she’ll ride the party line by putting her “Country First”, but in my opinion the only one that she is putting first is Sarah Palin herself. Do you not think that she should be putting her “Family First”?? Check it out, she has a 5 month old Down Syndrome baby who needs her attention now. Speaking of attention, how about the desperate cries coming from her daughter Bristol? I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t agree that her pregnancy is a plea for the attention of her mother who, rather than giving it to her, decides to vacate the home nest in quest of her career. Now that’s certainly not putting the “Country First”. Children are our future, they are first. The message that Sarah Palin is giving is quite contrary to that.
I’m sure some of you are saying that the children should be left alone in this campaign, which I agree with. However, Sarah Palin herself uses her son’s military service at every chance she gets. If she is so eager to talk about his service, certainly she opens up the discussion about other members of her family. This is called convenient contradiction and it stinks.
I watched idly by in 2004 as you guys voted for another 4 years of George W Bush and at the time it made me lose all my faith in Americans. You have the chance now to right the wrongs of the last 8 years and I deeply fear that you will again show the world that you can be duped by the Republican propaganda machine. Don’t do it!
As a Canadian I can tell you that the view of Americans in the rest of the world is at an all time low. Another 4 years of the GOP will continue this downward trend. When you think about “Country First”, think about what that really means. After all, to use an expression: “When America sneezes, the whole world gets a cold”.
September 9th, 2008 at 8:54 am PDT
I am Republican and I feel Republican is doing injustice to American people by deviating from the issue based politics to talking 24/7 about Palin. I am surprised how dumb and stupid we American can become when we are moved by star power. McCain is playing negative politics by letting American talk about Palin instead of issues. He is Maveric, but what he is doing now hiding behind Palin and that is not positive.
The biggest stupidity is we are talking about VP candidates instead of Presidential candidate. Why? Can anyone explain? Palin is running for VP and not for President. It is an important duty of Media to explain to American citizen what they should focus on right now and talk something about President and not VP candidate personality.
On the other side if McCain is true hero and have guts American would love him if talk more of issue and how he will resolve them – “Heads on with Obama” and come out victorious. As of now I see that Republican are not doing good job and bound to loose.
September 9th, 2008 at 8:55 am PDT
Dear Simple,
You certainly are! Maybe with palin we can get past the “Global Warming” flap. Where do you get your “90%”? the church of Al Gore earth worship?
Im sure you probably think meat comes packaged and brown cows give choclate milk, but there are 37000 scientists that would very much like to debate Al Gore on this issue, but ol Al would rather not. I cant’ blame him, he is making far to much money from the sale of carbon credits. What urban folks might do is get out of town take a drive and start talking to people that look closely at the earth every day. Those would be farmers and ranchers, they can tell you whats goin on. There are more polar bears than ever, and while one side of the polar ice is breaking up the other side is growing and the southern pole is thickening.
September 9th, 2008 at 8:59 am PDT
“If you geniuses haven’t realized it, people are sick and tired of your partisan **** just to get back in the white house.”
I generally don’t respond to these things, but this post is just hilarious. If that post isn’t the biggest piece of partisan **** I’ve ever heard, from either side, than Al Gore has been President for the last eight years and Palin is a tree hugger.

As more I read from her, this are some of my concerns.
-Intolerance- Demonstrate from the investigation she is object at one year as Government. She just it start to taste the power… That is corruption if is true. That is very similar to Bush administration policy; persecution.
-Global warming-she have to present to the country her position.
-Ideologist point of view, very dangerous for a country. Present examples!!
-Vote for that ticket include vote for a blank check when we do not have to much information of one of the candidates.
Obama it making a campaign base in honesty issue, open scenario and free of little fights. We will know if that is what American wants to take serious decisions like war, economy education and policies base in freedom.
September 9th, 2008 at 9:04 am PDT
I had been undecided, and was reluctantly leaning toward Obama, whom I see as just another opportunistic politician. Did not watch the Democratic convention - tuned in to the Republican convention just to see Palin’s speech, out of curiosity. She was great! Next day, I watched McCain’s speech, which was criticized in the media but which I found moving. Now, there’s no doubt in my mind; I’m voting for McCain/Palin, and am happy to do so. One could accuse me of choosing character and experience over what candidates are saying about issues. I’m old enough to know that what candidates say about issues rarely translates into anything in the real world.

Coming from Cape Cod and the Islands, the economy is front and center. Rentals were down and trips to Nantucket (monied burb and service) were down by 13%. The tourist industry felt that the it was a so-so season, If the European visitors had stayed home, it would have been a disaster.
However, what most of my women friends (semi-retired) discuss is the impact of MCCain presidency on the Supreme Court. A more conservative court will end Roe v. Wade. Remember, federal law supercedes state law. …..end of abortion …end of choice and many of us remember when abortion was illegal..what’s next for the extreme right - birth control? title 9?
September 9th, 2008 at 9:07 am PDT
For me she is the candidate for president as McCain let her lead because he knows that he do not have possibilities by his self, because is more than the same. But she is a new face with old point of view. If that what we want? This is not Miss Universe contest this is serious it is the Presidency when we see the worse of the republican administration.

The messiah scam could only work for so long before people saw through it. Everyone is tired of Obama, his empty suit and his ‘nuanced’ ’shifts’ in position. The kool-aid has run out. All that is left for Obama is a steady decline into oblivion.
Obama will be nothing but a footnote in the history books.

Very funny. Women voting for the ticket that votes against women…Equal pay and deciding what to do with your own body. McCain voted agianst a bill supporting equal pay for women because he said it would cause to many lawsuits. Also it just reeks of hypocrisy when someone says they are “pro-life & pro-death penalty” just like Jesus, right? The christian vote has been hijacked for the one issue of abortion, though the republicans have done nothing with it for decades now. Guess what christians… not everyone is one. That’s what putting country first should mean. Protecting others beliefs that do not agree with you. End rant.

NEWSFLASH TO SARAH PALIN: John McCain has a severe oedipal complex and will do anything to touch and fondle other women. Does it not strike you as odd that McCain and Palin look more like lovers on the campaign trail than political team members? Ironic how in America our press seems rarely willing to cover Republican scandals involving marital infidelity. McCain was unfaithful to his first wife, whom he cheated on and eventually dumped to marry the wealthy Cindy Lou Hensley of Arizona Budweiser wealth. Evidence that McCain has cheated on Cindy Lou Hensley with Lobbyist Vicki Iseman has been swept under the rug by the same mainstream media that stalked John Edwards. Ironic that Vicki Iseman looks strikingly similar to McCain’s mother and a young Cindy Lou Hensley. Now McCain, who was literally a dead man walking has his campaign viagra in the form of Governor Sarah Barracuda Palin and John McCain can’t keep his hands off her.

Robt, your claiming only the left is mischaracterizing what’s going on in the economy is like the pot calling the kettle black. You claim dems are divisive, then call them ‘whiners’ and tell them ’swallow that’. Who are the dividers?
McCain’s selection of Palin was a deliberate attempt to reignite the culture wars in order to keep people’s eyes off the fact that he’s got zero in terms of ideas.
McCain would rather divide America than lose an election.
September 9th, 2008 at 9:48 am PDT
I wonder why there hasn’t been more scrutiny of the”family values” Republican team.
McCain did indeed cheat on his wife when she was recovering from a near fatal car accident. He left her for Cindy.
There was more attention given to the Edwards affair than McCain’s past “immoral” behavior.
Isn’t it time that he is exposed for what he is.

Help your evangelical friends turn the page by pointing out that McCain’s first choice for V.P. was pro-choice Lieberman. McCain caved into pressure from the religious right but why would Maverick McCain do that when it comes to nominating a supreme court justice? By that time, McCain would have gotten what he needed from what he calls “agents of intolerance” and the Democratic-controlled legislature would quickly approve Justice Lieberman. Vice President Palin would have no power in the process.
Check mate.
September 9th, 2008 at 10:13 am PDT
Maria Cape Cod: I agree that the Supreme Court is the big issue. But I am on the other side of the philosophical aisle and think a more conservative court would be better. Yes, Roe v. Wade could be overturned, but would that really mean the end of abortion? It would mean the end of abortion based on a viability test, which was arbitrary anyway. But don’t you think new legislation and debate would ensue across the country through the legislative process incorporating discussion about medical and biological ethics? I would hope so.
I am an independent tired of having abortion as a flashpoint issue in every election, and I think Roe v. Wade just perpetuates the problem. It would be nice to see abortion regulated by legislation put forward by elected officials. And when I say regulated, I don’t mean outlawed. I doubt that wouldn’t reflect the voters choice. Just regulated based on an ethical standard rather than a formalistic rule. Human life is too sacred to define it with a legal definition crafted by 5 people, and choice is too sacred to limit it according to the dogma of a particular religion. I would hope that a reasoned compromise could be found through the normal legislative process that everyone could live with if not embrace 100%.
Sorry for the long post, but I am voting for McCain because he represents more compromise than I have heard from Obama, and a conservative pick for the Supreme Court would only enhance the opportunity for reasoned compromise for the reasons stated above.

SECESSIONIST…we must unite behind Sarah Palin. Her husband, Todd, was a member the Alaskan Independence Party working for Alaska to secede from the United States.
The director of Division of Elections in Alaska reported that Todd Palin registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party, a radical group that advocates for Alaskan secession from the United States, and remained a member until 2002, when he registered as undeclared while his wife ran for office.
She is more than sympathetic to the cause of secession; she is a participant.

Sarah congratulates the secession party only 6 months ago on their political gains.
Her pastor knows how evil America is and often preaches that America will be punished. A cause all evangelicals share. Listen below.

Now, with her elected as VP just we can realize the Republic of Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, the Republic of California and the Republic of Alaska.
The time has come elect a subversive that has pulled the eyes over the political system of the U. S. establishment.
September 9th, 2008 at 10:41 am PDT
McCain is no Maverick. He became a political tool in 2004 helping George W. run against Kerry. It was an amazing process to watch.
He was a maverick, but was severely pressured by his own party to bow down and take one for the gipper. Now he is their man. What a deal. But again, he was forced to take Sarah.
Her subversive activites and tax hikes in Alaska should have shocked the American facist party but she just wasn’t looked at closely.
Check this out…
Last year, 2007, Alaska’s legislature approved a major tax increase on those windfall profits of the oil industry. The state of Alaska has received more than $10 billion this year from oil revenue.
Thanks to the addition of these new taxes, that is double the amount it received the year before. The administration of Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin now gives $1,200 to every single Alaskan to help them pay for gas. In addition, each resident will receive an annual dividend of $2,000 from an oil-wealth savings account. Think what a family of 7 could do with that money (Gov. Palin has 7 members in her family).
That’s a fancy way of describing wealth redistribution, i.e., downright communism. And that is real change we can believe in. Will she do the same for the Lower 48 states?

Congrads secession party just 6 months ago. 7 year membership as subversive

God will punish America – her pastor knows America is evil just listen
Well, in my state I want to know why Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn’t got those big fact checks from the oil companies for every citizen of California. What’s wrong with him? Common Arnie, get us on that gravy train, too.

Democrates collectively and obama personally deserves a swift kick in the butt.
These hypcocrites talk about glass ceiling and women and all the **** about equality and change.
When democrates got a chance to nominate a black and a woman they did not understand the value of it and kicked the woman right in her head and stomped on her.
It will be pity if any sensible woman votes for the loosers.

I read this morning about Sarah Palin’s church having a “pray to not be gay” and wondered if this would be a new cabinet position. The “secretary of prayer” where all the evangelicals would pray for you not to be gay, or pregnant at 16, or at war, whatever ails you you can just pray it away. I wonder if Chris has room in Canada, this country is going looney.

The RNC Convention was all about tough talk. Talking tough gives speakers and audiences a natural high, but it doesn´t solve any problems. I hope the nation will not wake up with a hangover the morning after election day and realize that the party was great but didn´t promote people´s lives.

The next President of the United States appeared in Flint MI USA 9/08/08.The next Democratic administration is committed to re-industrialization of American and specifically re-birth of the automobile industry. What Obama demonstrated is ability to advocate positive policies for change. But he cannot help us if he does not win. To win the Palin bump must be addressed. The Democrats will defeat the republican by the strength of policy argument. Our chant to McCain/Palin should be WHERE’S THE BEEF.In Flint, Obama said” that he — not McCain — has consistently advocated changes in tax policy, education, the war in Iraq and the U.S. auto industry that will create jobs and help average families who are struggling.”"You can’t just make stuff up. You can’t just reinvent yourself,” he said of McCain. “The American people aren’t stupid. What they’re looking for is someone who has consistently called for change.”Polls have shown that voters consistently rate the economy as the top issue facing the nation this election season. Obama/Biden are talking economics, health care, good alternative fuel, national security, and correcting the chaos Bush has caused our national economy and international image. McCain/Palin are talking religious conversion and 4 more years of Bush policies. Its time for a change.[trb]

I’d like to know how John McCain and Sarah Palin are going to ‘reach across the aisle’ after all of the mud-slinging they did at the convention and continue to do on the campaign trail. Sarah Palin has not been scrutinized any more by the media than any other politician who is running for national office has been - and she should be. The American people (whom they claim to represent - although they do not represent me) deserve no less. The campaign sent out a press release with her family info - did they expect the press to not ask questions? Their stonewalling of the free press is indicative of how they will run their administration - in secrecy, behind closed doors.
The polls have shown a post-convention bump for McCain, which will not last (that’s why it’s called a ‘bump’ - it goes up, and then goes down).
And, polls do not take into account all of those new, young voters who only use cell phones, are internet-savy, and are coming out in droves to register and vote - for Obama and real change.
John McCain and Sara Palin DO represent four to eight more years of the same failed policies of Bush. Ask yourselves - are we as Americans better off now than we were eight years ago? I think the answer is self-evident and a vote for McCain/Palin will only dig us in deeper.
September 9th, 2008 at 12:16 pm PDT
I see the lunatic fringe has found this comment page also. Cut through the class warriors’ comments and ask yourself the following-in the last eight years-
Do I have a decent job? Did I get raises that kept up with inflation? Have I been outsourced, downsized or off-shored? Have any of my friends or family? Does my job have health insurance…can I afford it, can I afford it on my own? How many companies have moved into my area? What kind of jobs are they offering?
Can I afford a home or can I afford the one I have? Is my bank going to close? What are the chances my kids will get to go to college and how am I going to pay for it? Given the volatility of the stock market, is my retirement fund safe, do I want my Social Security tied into it?
Taxes, nobody likes them, but do I really believe with the deficit that taxes aren’t going to be raised? Am I getting the most bang for my tax buck?
Religon tells me how to live my life, do I think mine gives me the right to tell others how to live theirs?
The list goes on forever. This may be the most important election in the last 100 years.

The change that McCain wants is to bash the intellectuals and any one that has European ideas[ap].Maybe you look different “foreign” I believe is the code word, your not a hockey mom ,soccer mom, NASCAR dad, you live in a city and your educated, you have a world view and think it takes a village to help raise your family,-ie schools, extended family, neighbors, friends, then your some how bad or on the fringe maybe even evil, dose that not give you that warm fuzzy feeling? Well be afraid very afraid. The right wing “Conservative” brings something else to mind,Germany a wounded war veteran who wrote a book and was a God fearing right winger who found his country receptive because of their plight after a bitter war and bad economic times. The intellectuals, the educated, foreigners, ones that were liberal, and folks that didn’t “share their values” NOT LIKE US. The Jews fit the bill, different religion, businessmen, intellectuals, liberal, not like us- them. This right wing conservative group with it’s leader invoked Gods name and went on a crusade to right many perceived wrongs and to settle old scores. The church blessed them and their weapons and they went out in Gods name to make the world in their image and well you know the rest.Fiction? Not hardly religion has no place in politics.there is a reason for separation of church and state It seems that to be a Christian now we have to wrap our selves in the flag and if you don’t you’re bad,or unpatriotic, un American. But if You are a true Christian the Christ said give Caesars things to Caesar, and that His Kingdom was no part of this world he was not involved in politics. You don’t have to be a Christian to be a patriot or pick up a gun or join the military to be a patriot , just like wrapping your self in the flag and the bible makes a bad person good or a patriot because it doesn’t. That man in Germany was wrapped in his flag and the bible and was blessed by the church was he a good man? I guess not but his followers thought so they were convinced by the dogma of the crusade and that evil was across the street, next door, the next country, folks not like them, and if those evil doers were dehumanized they were-are easy to kill. I guess the Christian right forgot the 10 commandments, pick it up its a good read

Palin is a hottie. What other reason do u stupid people need to vote? In fact, just stay home and let God pick. Palin represents all women. She stands behind the teaching of morality. She believes those little tramps that get themselves pregnant have no “choice” at that point on what to do with the gift of life in their wombs! And that includes those that tease and get raped or have incestous relationships. She knows her place, and will follow McCain’s lead, just as McCain will follow the enlighten polocies of George Bush!

So, it’s “all about the battlegrounds.” Who’s going to take Ohio, then?
And which groups are more likely to actually show up at the polls?
Yes, the choice of Palin was completely cynical. It is also likely to work. At least it has boosted McCain’s candidacy substantially so far, though. Biden is obviously a much more solid choice, but unfortunately, far less photogenic. (I was hoping Obama would pick somebody like Nancy Pelosi.)
The Republicans should be focusing on trying to portray Palin as inexperienced (catching her in an important factual gaffe would be great) and kind of nutty. Never mind her kids–we all know she has a househusband for that, and probably a nanny as well.
Bring on the debates!
